Can the subject line be altered?

Is there a way to alter the subject line of an encrypted message?

We would like to provide the receiver of the email with some kind of feedback that the message was encrypted.

Currently not. I'll put it on the todo list.

What most users do is use a subject trigger that triggers encryption.
You want to encrypt all messages and add for example "[message was
encrypted]" when the message is encrypted?

kind regards,

Martijn

As far as i understand he want's to get a subject on *inbound* mail to
see if the mail arrived encrypted and was decrypted by Djigzo....
This may be useful for the end-user because the x-djigzo-header-* will
not be visible to the end-user. But i wonder if this get bad habit in
the long run to teach the user to rely on some subject extension...

Andreas

Hi all,

As far as i understand he want's to get a subject on *inbound* mail to ..

yes. Inbound mail decrypted by Djigzo does not show any visible sign of that fact.

I know it is a bad idea to teach the user to rely on something in the subject line, but I not sure how else to indicate the encrypted transport.

Djigzo adds some custom headers in the form X-Djigzo-* to the message
when a message was encrypted and/or signed. Because Djigzo removes all
X-Djigzo-* headers when the message is received (for an internal user)
senders cannot 'spoof' these X-Djigzo-* headers.

Using the X-Djigzo-* is the most reliable way (apart from decrypting and
checking the S/MIME message in your local mail client) but not really
user friendly

It is of course possible to add something like [decrypt] to the subject
after decrypting but to prevent it from being 'spoofed' all incoming
mail must be checked and any [decrypt] part must be removed. If a user
replies to a message the subject will contain [decrypt] so for outgoing
email it must be removed as well because the subject did initially not
contain the line.

I'll put it on the todo list

Kind regards,

Martijn
