Ciphermail doesn't decrypt emails from Symantec PGP Desktop.

Hi.
I've got issues with decrypting emails sent by Symantec PGP Desktop
( currently Symantec PGP Desktop 10.4.1. version)

1. I've installed Ciphers Virtual Machine version and configred one
internal domain.
2. I've created one internal email account : test1(a)xxxxx.pl and
generated PGP keypair on ciphermail.
3. Export public key to Symantec PGPsoftware form ciphermail

When I send email from external domain using Symantec PGP i get
an encrypted email to mail mailbox and content of the e-mail looks
like this:

-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
Version: Encryption Desktop 10.4.1 (Build 759)
Charset: utf-8

Ciphermail uses OpenPGP while Symantec's PGP is a proprietary solution that does not necessarily follow the OpenPGP standard. It sounds like you may be running into an issue like that.

Take a look at this Symantec doc that clearly states that Symantec complies with its own PGP standard and that there might be incompatibility issues:

Hi,

As already mentioned by Dino Edwards, Symantec PGP might use a
proprietary option (PGP partitioned). However that should be supported
(at least with older releases).

Please check the following (for the global settings):

"Enable PGP/INLINE to internal" <== *must* be checked

PGP advanced options:

"PGP partitioned fix-up" <== *must* be checked

Kind regards,

Martijn Brinkers
