encrypted email in the cloud

After reading this article below:

https://www.ciphermail.com/blog/encrypted-email-in-the-cloud.html

it describes how to setup ciphermail to encrypt all email before forwarding to its final destination. I have a couple of questions. This article talks about PGP encryption, could the same thing be done using s/mime encryption? It also doesn't mention if the recipient should be set to internal or external? I'm assuming internal.

Thanks

Dino

Yes that works with S/MIME as well. In fact with all supported
encryption methods.

It also doesn't mention if the recipient
should be set to internal or external? I'm assuming internal.

Email to internal will be decrypted, email to external encrypted. So the
user must be set to encrypted.

Kind regards,

secure webmail pull.

Great and if more than one encryption method is set, then which one does it default to?

Assuming all options are enabled and a user configured trigger that
triggers some specific encryption method is not used:

First S/MIME is tried, if that fails PGP, if that fails PDF and finally
Webmail (with enterprise edition).
